DS-2CD2T23G2-2I/4I — 2 MP AcuSense Bullet Camera

Learn More

The value of this camera is not its 2 MP sensor — it is what it refuses to alarm on. AcuSense uses deep-learning classification to separate people and vehicles from everything else, so a cat crossing the yard, a plastic bag in the wind and a shifting shadow no longer wake the operator. On a site with a dozen cameras and one person watching, that filtering is the difference between a system that gets used and a system that gets muted.

Perimeter protection covers line crossing and intrusion, both of which can be set to trigger only on a specified target type. Face detection is available as a smart event.

Choosing the lens — by distance, not by preference

The model ships in two IR ranges and three focal lengths, and the right combination is decided by how far the subject is from the camera. DORI figures below are Hikvision's own:

LensDetectObserveRecogniseIdentifyHorizontal FOV
2.8 mm44 m17 m9 m4 m107°
4 mm54 m21 m11 m5 m87°
6 mm88 m35 m18 m9 m54°

Read it this way: detect means something is there, identify means you could name the person. A 6 mm lens sees a figure at 88 m but only identifies a face at 9 m. Choose the lens by the job — a gate that must produce usable faces is a short-range identify task; a fence line is a long-range detect task.

IR range: the -2I variant reaches up to 60 m, the -4I up to 80 m, both at 850 nm with smart supplement light.

One limitation to respect

Hikvision grades its cameras on three anti-corrosion levels, and this model carries no specific protection. That rules it out for coastlines, docks, chemical plants, and for any site within roughly two kilometres of the coast or exposed to acid rain. For projects in Jeddah, Dammam, Yanbu, Jubail or along the Gulf shore, ask us for a moderate or top-level protection model instead — the IP67 rating stops water and dust, not salt corrosion. Inland Riyadh installations are unaffected.

Where it fits best

Perimeter fence lines, yards, car parks, warehouse compounds and building approaches in inland sites — anywhere the camera runs unattended and false alarms are the real cost.
